The title: 'The Awesome Anguishing call of a lonely God!

I got to talk with him one on one in Sept 1980.

He spent 3 days getting to talk with him one on one after church in Oak Creek, WI.

I asked him to pray over me.

He remembered my dad.

he did not just say a prayer he and I went into Pastor Frank Tamel's office that was in pastor Tamel's house.

Bro Guidroz prayed with me for over an hour..

He must have been almost 80 at the time....

Great man of God....

That was the Sr. Brother Guidroz. His son (V.A.) is my bishop and former pastor.

If I had the resources. It would be cool to have a place to profile all these great men of God.

So if someone wanted to read about them they could go to the site.

Maybe that will happen in the future....

It will be great to meet them all on the otherside...

First, I too have to mention my Dad as my top choice. He is a man with more integrity than anyone I know. He didn't preach a word that he didn't live by every day of the week!

Here are some of my favorite preachers with a sermon that has ministered to me and made a difference in my life.

CM Becton A Certain Sound

Jeff Arnold Looking For A Vessel

Jerry Jones Devil You Missed Again

Nona Freeman The Blessing

Alan Oggs One Last Night With The Frogs

Doug While Teddy Bear Testimonies

Scott Graham The Layaway Plan

Charles Grisham Have You Seen A Song Lately

JT Pugh Your First Night In Hell

Just a few.....there are soooooooo many more.

One man I really admire and how has taught me to look at one particular group of people with much more compassion than I once did is Ray Highfield.

And while everyone seems to be mentioning ministers, the title of the thread isn't as exclusionary. Some other great men that could be listed include:

Johannes Gutenberg
Carl Sagan
Albert Einstein
Ronald Reagan
Martin Luther
Nicolaus Copernicus

E.L. Holley great man. I have a Pentecostal Herald PDF file from Jan 1986 that talks about the 1985 GC in Ft. Worth Texas.

My brother met his wife at that Conference in Ft. Worth.

I remember his talking at the GC in 1985...

I went out to eat one night with Todd Hanby (he had a date), Myles Young (Who was with Jonny Godair's Daughter), I was with Tanya Raper from Mississippi. Bro Nathan Urshan, sis urshan and Bro Becton ate at the same place one night.. I did not remember Sis Becton.

They all walked by our table and Bro Urshan stopped to talk with us.

He commented now here is "Who's who in Pentecost".

He knew us all.

He acknowleged Todd, Myles and then got to me.

He reached out his hand, I stodd up and we hugged.

He asked how my mom was doing...

That was a fun night..

Bro Urshan had spoke at my dad's funeral in 1978...

We had a very interesting conversation that night at the table, Todd, Myles and myself.

My brother had gone out with Johnny Godair's daughter the night before..

Well that is one really old memory....

Tina, you should look around the internet, there are a number of his sermons availble. one has been mentioned here from a GC
"He has exalted his word above His Name"

It is a stand out.

I also remember a School of Missions service he preahed "If the Gospel be hid". If that wont make you want to find a person to bring to christ, you cant be moved.

I remember when we elected him "Pastor Emeritus". We couldnt find him anywhere when the service started. Eventually they found him hiding in one of the back offices! He had to be talked into even coming into the service!
He just kept saying "You good people need to find someone worthy of this honor".

I never knew of a preacher so reluctant to get up before his peers yet so covetted. All my life I heard him refered to as "A pastors, Pastor".

It has been around 20 years since he passed away and you still hear "Papa George used to say" any time you are around DeRidder, or anywhere one of his "boys" is.
