I just checked mine and we should get ours by tomorrow. Woo hoo!!! It is going to my root canal, so I'm not too excited, except that my root canal is being paid for!!!

We moved and the post office didn't get our mail forwarding going and mail was getting returned to sender. I was concerned that if we got a check it would go to the wrong address and then they wouldn't forward it. I called the IRS and they told me because my refund was direct deposited so would my stimulus and not to worry about my address.
My husband's social is low so I thought we would of gotten it deposited in the beginning. I called and got the not available message. I called and went through three different #'s being on hold for lot's of time for each one. I spoke with a person who told me that they weren't done with the deposits yet and it didn't matter if my # was low or not.
Well it still didn't come in and I called that # and it said how much we would be getting and that it would be sent out in the form of a check on May 16. I called and spoke with a live agent to make sure this was correct and to find out why.
Thankfully they had my updated address so we would receive it when it comes. The reason we are getting a paper check is the reason that has already been stated, we had a tax preparer do our taxes and they would have to deposit it to their account and if they weren't open all year around it might be difficult to get the money.
So if you wait a few days and call again they might have more info for you. I can imagine they are up to their ears trying to get these checks out and keep people happy.
I think they should have made the situation with tax preparers more clear from the start. Had they done that, I suspect that they wouldn't be getting so many phone calls.

I use a tax preparer, who specializes in clergy taxes, and I still got my stimulus deposit today.
I should of been more clear. Those of us who wanted to get our refund back sooner (like rapidly) actually got paid by the tax preparers financial department, so when the money came in it went directly to them.
