and then I told our people unforgivness is like gangrene. (Gangrene is not a disease but the end result of gradual tissue loss, resulting in progressive decay or necrosis (tissue death from suffocation) of part of a limb due to insufficient, or cut off, oxygen-rich and nutrient-dense blood supply.)
Unfaithfulness is wrong. Revenge is bad. But the worst part of all is that, without forgiveness, bitterness is all that is left.
If we are not careful we become to holy for heaven...and we judge others and our spirits become hard and bitter and we begin to think we are the only ones that will walk through the pearly gates...how wrong we are!

By forgiving, I release my own right to get even and leave all issues of fairness for God to work out. I leave in God's hands the scales that must balance justice and mercy." [Yancey p.83]
