Re: Salvation for the deaf and mute?: Say it ain't
As dumb as I may be ...
the frustration is on your part because you don't have an answer for a scenario that is within the limits of reason ...
We must assume God's plan of salvation is not for all.

Daniel I know most people are really missing your point(s). I believe it is possible that a deaf/mute can be baptized in Jesus name, filled with the Holy Ghost and (speak in an unknown tongue) without speaking out loud. That is for their salvation not for our edification anyway. Even if the person that baptizes them is a deaf/mute as well.
God sees and hears both's hearts.

Simple enough ... don't have to agree w/ it all but at least it's an honest answer w/o all the defensiveness.

Whew.......lol
I do get your point. The most wonderful thing though is God's GRACE.

Dan I have a simple answer I have seen and heard God fill the deaf & dumb with the HG. The Answer is God can and will.
However in YOUR favorite passage Rom. 10:9 ......with the MOUTH confess made. Does that keep a person who is dumb from confessing with the mouth?
The wise man said "thou art snared by the words of thy mouth."

Calling on the name of the Lord is a figurative Hebraic expression, Steve .... it means placing faith in Jesus Christ ....
You really need to read more of my posts.
I believe that the deaf/mute would be saved by grace through faith by Him who knows the heart and whether the point of faith and repentnace is genuine even if they could not verbalize it or sign it.
Acts 3:19 and 1 John 5:1-14 are my favorite passages as they relate to soteriology, btw.
So much for your "GOTCHA"

NOT a one stepper a NO stepper!
Now the passage with MOUTH confession is made is NOT necessary.
Mental assent alone saves.
