Paul Washer

This guy is a baptist. Any of you hear of him? His preaching makes a lot of people angry.

Re: Paul Washer

He preaches the necessity of repentance from dead works, living a consecrated life, and the hypocrisy in many churches and believers' lives. He is straightforward, and because of this, he is not welcomed in the gatherings of the Baptist youth anymore.

Re: Paul Washer

I posted something about him here a couple of weeks ago. I read somewhere that the pastor of the Baptist Church (where he preached this message) vowed he (Washer) would never preach in his church again. He's not real popular among his own. He seems to have gotten ahold of something other than mere religion.

What he is preaching sounds like what the Methodist USED to believe and do. They preached "salvation experiences"...where one waited on God in prayer until they had a Spiritual experience whereby they knew they were saved. They taught real heart felt repentance at an alter. I wish Elias were here. He studied this too. This is important as it refutes the idea of a simple prayer anyone can make and then someone else saying "that's it, you are saved"...we find this a lot in Evangelical churches but I am wondering too if this is not creeping into the Oneness ranks as well

Re: Paul Washer

BTW I'd like to see this kind of preaching in our ranks too. Though he is not preaching baptism in Jesus name and tongues, he is hitting on the most important "part" of them all that I think in our day and age we have lacked on.

How often anymore do we have the kind of alter call that everyone is profoundly introspective and repented? Tears? Hmmmmm? We preach them to their feet and shouts of Amen most of the time. We want none of that weeping stuff. We want them to think we are HAPPY Pentecostals more than anything else.
