I'm sorry Miss B, but with all the puppy talk I couldn't resist posting pics of our Shepherd.
So CUTE--I love German Shepherds! She's still a baby. (or he?)

Okay...update! First of all, I miscounted...there are 8 puppies.
4 girls, 4 boys.
4 black, 4 white with black spots and/or ears.
The Mommy dog has an appointment Monday morning to get her shots, and the vet asked me to bring in 1 puppy with her to weigh it, so they can determine how much deworming med. we'll need. I'm not sure how we're going to separate the Mommy from her puppies--we may end up taking the whole crew.
I'm going to try to give the Mom a bath this weekend in tearless puppy shampoo...Oh, and the vet said that Frontline plus is fine for lactating females. She doesn't actually have any fleas, though...I checked very thoroughly. I did pick off a few ticks, but I'm pretty sure I got them all. However, since she has to go outside, the Frontline will prevent any more ticks or fleas. My kitty cats are flea-free, so I definitely can't risk getting any fleas in our house!!! *shudder*
All the puppies are in very good health, no fleas or ticks on anyone, the puppies will have their first set of shots at 6 weeks. Also, we checked on having the mother spayed, which our vet said they can do when the puppies are 12 weeks old.
SOOOOOO...without further ado...here are the pictures!!!
Picture 1 - a few hours old, they still have mud from being under the shed. Attachment 1173
They are now 11 days old! I'll post some more pictures in a little bit from today.
And if anyone wants to adopt a puppy....
I'm glad I live so far away,I'd want them all and so would my hubby. I once answered an add I saw at the vet's office for FREE Collie puppies. When we went to look at them they were Walker Hounds.lol We still took one as I couldn't resist when one opened his eyes. We named him Freddie the free loader.
Good news: The puppies are all very healthy. The biggest pup weighs 2.1 lbs. I have their first doses of dewormer that I'll attempt to give later today.
Bad news: The mother is positive for heartworms. It's treatable at this stage, but the treatment isn't cheap! Plus, Maxie (short for Maxine) can't be treated until the puppies are weaned. Either way, she received her first set of shots today, and her own dewormer.
Good news: Heartworms can't be passed to the puppies. (I didn't know that.)
Bad news: The vet told me to "Sit." LOL!!! Maxie was being fairly aggressive with the other people and pets (because of the puppies), and I was trying to keep her tight on the leash. The vet told me to give up the leash, and told me to SIT...that I was making Maxie nervous.
Maybe I need to go to obedience school.
So. Inny waze. I'd love to post pictures, but I'm too exhausted at the moment.
