It may be "hard to overcome" because some of the things we do aren't in the Book that you mentioned a moment ago.
I remember a real difficult time many years ago when a brother in the church was told by his doctor not to shave for 6 months until an infection on his face cleared up. And, it was some sort of fungal thing he got while serving his country overseas.
As soon as his beard grew out the pastor's wife was livid with him - and with the pastor who had told him to "just play it cool...".
They ended up throwing the guy out of the church. Wrecked a whole family's faith in the Apostolic message. All because we wouldn't brook any kind of "compromise" - not even for six months.
