In reading some of these threads I am struck by some of the sayings and slangs that I have grown up hearing and saying. I am sure that some of them are not common outside of the UPC culture, and I wonder just how much we current and former UPC members have been shaped by a common culture and heritage.

What got me thinking was when I read Renda write "us four and no more"...
Then you've got "Bro. _______ doesn't believe that fat meat is greasy", etc.

How much do you think that there is a common culture and identity regardless of what our differences are? It seems that some of them transcend our differences in race, age, and location.
Can you think of any more uniquely UPC sayings?

I am not sure that they are UPC unique as much as they are Oneness Apostolic/Pentecostal. Incuding pretty much all oneness groups.

OMG I thought my dad's church was the ONLY one that did that. And for some unknown reason, as a kid, WE LOOKED FORWARD TO IT.

only we also did it for anniversaries. we just changed out birthday for it.

OMG!! This is so funny! I started out wondering whether the song was the same one we used. Mike let me know it was. then I remembered putting in a penny a year and lo and behold, Renda does too. My next memory was of the Scripture card and the pencil. And along comes Rhoni with the same memory. Then I'm thinking about the little white church piggy bank we used and Mike pipes up talking about his. And jaxfam, we sang a Happy Anniversary to you, too. And couldn't wait to go up on Sunday morning to put our little pennies in that bank. How fun this has been!! What a trip down memory lane!
