What DOES matter in this election is the what Supreme Court nominees that the elected President will recommend to the Senate to be put on the bench. A pro-life nominee could reverse Roe v. Wade.
Even at that, we have a Democratic controlled Senate, so they will not vote for a pro-life candidate without a MAJOR fight!
If the President is pro-choice, a pro-choice nominee will DEFINITELY be appointed!
PM, what I have been saying about the failures in the last 35 years is simple. If the moral majority really believed that abortion was murder and acted on it and demanded action, then every Senator would be pro-life, every elected judge would be pro-life, every State Legislator would be pro-life...and they would be pro-life not just in the rhetorical sense, but in the governing sense. There was a window of opportunity when abortion was not common place and institutionalized, and it was during that window that the conservatives allowed themselves to be lullabied into a rhetorical stance on a very real and important issue.
I will not allow the rhetoric to work on me. It is unfair to the souls of those millions who have been murdered.

Your excited about a trinitarian potential V.P.???
Palin was originally baptized as a Roman Catholic, but her parents switched to the Wasilla Assembly of God, a Pentecostal church, where she was rebaptized at age 12 or 13. When she is in the capital, she attends Juneau Christian Center, another Assemblies of God church. Her current home church in Wasilla is The Church on the Rock, an independent congregation. Although initial reports described her as the first Pentecostal ever named to a major party’s presidential ticket, Palin describes herself as a non-denominational Christian.
In regards to Governor Palin being a member or attending Church on the Rock, this is a statement about her church involvement. Before running for Governor of Alaska she frequently attended Church on the Rock for approximately one year. Since that time she has visited on occasion and now attends Wasilla Bible Church with her family. Wasilla Bible Church is a life giving church that has blessed our community. Governor Palin is a wonderful Christian woman with outstanding leadership qualities. Our prayers are with the Governor and her family.

Just thought I’d share this with my readers. Interesting to say the least.

Stew - I don't want you to take this wrong - but as you are criticizing those pro-life candidates and public servants - please tell me exactly what YOU have done or are doing to stop abortion? I'm not being judgmental of you - but I'm just curious ...... Someone asked me this several years ago - it convicted me and I ask God to help me know what to do - Since that time, I have done something in my own way to support the the anti-abortion agenda. So........... if you think the Republican party should be more active to stop these abortions - exactly WHAT would you have us do?
I sincerely hope that you will re-think your position of possibly not voting in this election. People not voting is partly why America is in the shape that she is in - Godly people have not participated in politics for too long and have sat back and let the the ungodly rule. If we don't vote for those who offer at least some semblance of goodness (yes, sometimes we have to choose the lesser of two evils) - America will continue further down the path of destruction.

With a name like Sweet Pea, how could I possibly take what you say wrong?
I have answered this question in the past. What I would do differently is not blindly give my vote until I had a firm committment to action and then something that I could hold politicians accountable to. Something that I could evaluate and revisit after their term.
My sphere of influence is relatively small, so all I can do to stop abortions is attempt to influence those in my sphere of influence. However, the Presidents, Senators, State Governments, Judges, and Justices have a considerablt larger sphere of influence. I would not settle for rhetoric from those people. If those people are pro-life then the landscape should be considerably different. There was a time in our country when abortion was not so rampant and demanding action would have been key to me.
To your point about godly people not participating and allowing the ungodly to rule...that has been my point accept that the ungodly ruled under a cloak of "godliness" so the godly supported them.

There are good and bad people in BOTH political parties! Sometimes we demonize good people because of their party affiliation.
That being said, we have to look at party platforms and decide which party is closer to our values. As ugly as it seems, the Republican party seems to be a closer match to my values.

But there are more arrests coming from the liberal side this year....
just want to point that out.... but I am a partisan hack...

Okay - Stew - it's time to put your money where your mouth is..... This is where the rubber meets the road.
Maybe because you feel so strongly about this, God is calling YOU to enlarge your sphere of influence to include these elected officials! They get in office and then you become the thorn in their side continually asking them, lobbying them, bombarding them with e-mails, letters, phone calls ect.... asking them WHAT they are going to do - they ran on a pro-life platform - now WHAT are they going to do to bring about this change and what can you do to help them accomplish this change!
Are you going to sit back and complain and criticize the Republican party for talking the talk - but not walking the walk - OR are you going to get involved?
We need men like yourself to STAND UP for righteousness and make their voices heard!
You are one of my favorite posters on this forum - I hope that I have not offended you in any way - I just felt impressed to say this to you!

I've been trying like crazy to enlarge my sphere of influence here on AFF. So far all I've been able to do is fight with Ferd all day .
The message that I am trying to spread is one of urgency, accountability, clear and precise platforms, and real action...in other words you actually have to produce for my moral vote.
I am not easily offended. I hope that I do not come across as angry or offended.

one question... based on the above requirement of producing to get your moral vote, does that mean you approve of GWB?

I was a big supporter at one point, but not anymore. I don't even want to begin on how divergent his positions are from my ideals. In everything from immigration, fiscal issues, military decisions, etc... I almost blew a gasket when I saw that he was attempting to outsource the security of our ports to a Saudi company...and that Boeing lost the latest Air Froce contract to a foreighn company.
