That leaves room though for the Dems to actually be the one to appear to claim the moral highground by insisting that the family is off limits and that the GOP is politicking as usual. I'm sure that the base loved every word of it like the Dem base loves every word that comes out of their candidate's mouth. Sometimes I just feel like I live in Bizarro world.

They have challenged her view on "abstinence" because of her daughter.
When the ball rolled around the court it came back to - "Every person makes their own decision. You can't blame all parenting on every mistake."

So, it's all been good and it will all be over and we will watch EBAY and see if Palin is selling anything off the White House property.

Jeanie, I read the article and it seems a little confusing as to who exactly they are saying released what. I certainly do not like the release of anybody's personal info (whether they did not release the last 4 digits or not). This line in particular was a little confusing "Kevin adds: The Politico article which RedState mentions does not identify from whom the file was received, but it certainly doesn't say it's not from Democrats or a particular Democrat. That said, a better title might have been "Democratic opposition research report on Palin includes partial SSN."
I would not automatically lay it at the feet of the national Democratic Party particularly since it was done at a time when she was still mayor of Wasilla.
I would not blame any candidate for Obama's passport info being breached earlier in the election. There was also a time when a Republican State Department employee was caught searching Bill Clinton's passport records when he was running. I do not lay all these things at the feet of the national party unless I have reason to.

Sadly this is true. Attacking and Counter-Attacking is the way this is run. You get someone that REALLY doesn't do this, and they will lose.
Someone "acts" above it, they better be above it for real. They should only purpose their side of things, and what they plan to do without comparing it to the "lesser" or "weaker" plans of their opponent.
I'll keep watching, and haven't made my choice of who I'm going to vote for yet. I once thought I wasn't going to vote this election, and I guess I could revert back to that, but not likely.
But so far, I am ,over all, unimpressed with Obama. I'm all for whatever, or whoever is best for this country, and he's got a good deal of convincing to do in my eyes. I don't just mean talking "pretty" either.
I just wish it could all be layed out say straight and easy to decipher. What's real is real and what's politics would to striped naked.
Anyway, I actually like Palin so far (how little that is), we'll see how it goes.

You are right, Mike. Palin has the base energized, but McCain will need to draw from the middle in order to win in November. It is a difficult line to walk because this country has been so divided by the media's constant railing on Bush and the current administration policies. If John goes too far he can lose the base, not far enough and he doesn't get the Reagan Democrats, it is a tough job.
Precisely. I couldn't agree more. I really think that Palin represents today's base of the party better than McCain does. That's why her speech was received so well last night by base Repubs. Her job, in that sense, was easier than McCain's will be tonight.
McCain's task is to attract the moderate, undecided voters in Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Michigan and a handful of other battleground states. That's where the election is going to be won or lost. He knows that the base of the party won't be enough. He has to distance himself from George W. Bush enough to attract the undecided mods, yet stay close enough to GWB to keep his base fired up.
I'm sure his campaign and speech writers know the tight rope he'll be walking.
