We have a similar card that sends us a rebate check every year. We pay off our card every month too, so it's almost like free money when the check comes.

Re: How to Save Money
Back before my husband got cancer, we always chose the insurance with the greatest deductable and least amount of coverage. So, we paid in the least amount per month. When my husband got cancer, we were concerned, definately, about the finances, but it turned out that we only owed about $3,000.00 out of pocket even after surgery and radiation. But then now we are reassessing how we do insurance since my husband has to have a CT scan regularly (at about $6000.00 a pop without insurance). Definately, a person's health will help determine which policy is best. Anyone else have any insurance thoughts?

Re: How to Save Money
Walgreens often has some great deals. They have great specials when you use their coupons and then often, they have a number of rebates on products that you can either use or use for Christmas presents etc. Also, lately, if you are signed up with them for emails, you can get $5.00 off a purchase of $20.00 (or whatever the special is that week). Here a whle back, I got a number of free items (with rebate) plus $5.00 off the purchase price. If you do it right, you can practically get paid to shop there.

Re: How to Save Money
I will have to try Walgreens. I always felt that they were a convenience store therefore, cost more. I will start looking over thier sale paper in the Sunday paper.

They have what is called an Easy Saver catalog. When you look in their flyer you will see references to it. This catalog is in their store monthly. It has all the rebates in it plus a number of coupons. They do all their rebates through this catalog and they do it once a month (probably hoping you will forget to do it!). You do need to pick it up in the store or, you might see if they have it online, I don't know. They also have cash back coupons on purchases. For example, you might buy bars of soap for $4.00 and then get a coupon for $4.00 off next purchase. At my store, you can buy the soap first and then buy the rest of your stuff and use the coupon right away.

I inherited the gene for liking the most expensive of everything. I was told once that I didn't make a very good poor person. Amen to that!

I was being facetious, making reference to the "born gay" thread.
You said you were "born a penny pincher", lol.
