The Prez only campaigns if he's asked to. He wasn't asked.
I would think that any damage that could have been done by linking McCain to Bush would have been done by now. I say that just due to sheer star power, he could have generated some excitement in some of the traditional GOP states...the states that voted for him overwhelmingly. I don't know I may be wrong but it just seems that way.

I dunno, The Obama camp gained leverage by stating that McCain was "just 4 more years of Bush" and that he voted with Bush 90% etc etc.
So there certainly is reason to believe that Bush distancing himself from any republican would be a good idea.
That was always so ridiculous to me. McCain is a Republican, of course he will vote with his party. LOL!

Quite true.
You wouldn't expect McCain, as a Republican, to have voted 50-60% with the Republican president.
But most voters are so taken in by sound bites, they don't always think critically about stuff like that.
