We've had a fantastic 2 days of celebrating Christmas. We had such a great time just being with family. Our worship service last night was so very meaningful. Really enjoyed it!
I got everything I wanted this year. Of course, I did all the shopping for myself and just gave it to Walt to wrap up and give me. LOL!!! He did come up with several ideas of his own tho
We laughed so hard today because this year, for the first time, our boys got primarily clothes. Justin got clothes, essentials for college (paper towels, TP, snack foods, etc.), and a GPS. Keith got clothes and a couple of small things. But the thing he had asked for the most was a new electric guitar. I got him a whole "kit". It had a really good quality electric guitar as well as a nice Fender amplifier that plays drums, base and other things as well. Do you know how big a box is for all of that? Way bigger than I wanted to wrap!!
So I didn't wrap it. I put a note in his stocking telling him that he should check out in the train room because he had one more gift out there. So this poor kids kept opening jeans, sweatshirts, underwear, etc., etc. But no guitar. He was getting pretty discouraged.
Finally when everything else had been opened, he got to his stocking and found the note. OH MY GOODNESS!!!! We have been seranaded all day!!!!!
Walt's brother was here and he spent most of his day on his phone, calling everyone we know, saying, "Listen to this kid play this guitar!! Isn't he amazing!!!"
This has been the very best thing for Keith's self-esteem. I am one happy mama

Re: Merry Christmas!!! It's Christmas Day!!
Margie, that's wonderful.
I didn't get to do much Christmas shopping because of work and taking care of my adopted mom's business from her being in the hospital for almost two weeks and stuff. But my kids are used to not having Christmas on the actual day anyway.
All I got for my son was a MP3 player, which he's never had before. He preferred CD players instead, but he's loving this!
My daughter got fuzzy socks, a couple pairs of capris, and a camo watch.
I got Jelly Bellys and a cow figurine. My daughter hasn't shopped for me yet, cause I forgot to give her the money I owed her the other day when my sister came to get them. She wouldn't go, even though my sister would have paid it for her.
We are shopping on Saturday. I didn't even wrap what I'd already bought, so I said let's go and I'll buy whatever you want. I know my daughter wants the Twilight series books for her library. Son will take whatever I buy him!
I'm getting up early, as Kohl's opens at 6 and I don't have to be at work until 7. Lucky for me, the store is only ten minutes from work, so I can get a lot of shopping done!
My kids always get a big gift. This year, I left it up to my brother, who probably won't come through.
My daughter wants a laptop but doesn't dare ask cause she knows that hell will freeze over before that happens. Well, Satan happens to be ice skating this year, and Becca is going to be very surprised!
Zak wants a X-Box 360 with the Halo series game. It's very expensive, so I will wait til after the holidays and get it for him a little late if my brother doesn't get it for him. He'll be shocked as well, cause I told him hell would freeze first....LOL!
This is the first year they didn't have stockings though. I always fill their stockings with things like toiletries and trial size things they enjoy, along with a few scratch off tickets, just for fun. They didn't care, but I did. I might have to fill them later...LOL!
But I got the best gift last night. I can't go into detail, but it's given me a new lease on life that I never thought I'd have.
I'm the happiest person in the world.

H1, your kids are gonna be so thrilled when they get those items! I know they'll love them!
But you listen here, my friend. You can't bait us like that and then not tell us what it is that you got that'll give you that new lease on life! Is it a diamond engagement ring? Whatever it is, you need to PM me and tell me about it. Lord knows I could use a new lease on life!!

Re: Merry Christmas!!! It's Christmas Day!!
It's always so sad about this time on Christmas Day........under the tree is empty, the food has all been devoured and you realize that tomorrow will just be another day.
You spend all month preparing for one day and it's just over too fast.
The Christmas season is over for another year.

Re: Merry Christmas!!! It's Christmas Day!!
Not for me,......we haven't even started yet!
I am pooped!!!! I made a big dinner tonight of Chicken Kiev, Au Gratin Potatoes, Broccoli Casserole, Crescent Rolls. I wanted us to have something good for Christmas night, even though we haven't started any family stuff yet.
I have baked and baked tonight. I made a pumpkin pie, pecan pie, Chocolate dipped truffles, and pecan cookies dipped in white chocolate. I also made a really big broccoli cheese casserole for dinner tomorrow. We are meeting at my MIL's at 10 AM to open gifts and then having a noon meal. Ashley & Adam will drive in from his folks and Zac is with us. Then we will go by my parent's house briefly on the way home, so they can see the kids.
We will do gifts here either tomorrow night or Saturday - not sure yet. Then the Graham family will have their big to-do on January 2nd at my folks. So I'm just getting started...........and I've already eaten WAY too much.

Re: Merry Christmas!!! It's Christmas Day!!
I have much to be thankful for in this past year. God has been so good to me, and this year has been the beginning of a new life for me and my family.
I finally 'grew up' and graduated with my Associates Degree in Nursing. I have a great job as a result, and I owe it all to God.
This New Year will be even better. I'm planning on a lot of things to happen that will be positive for me and my family. My son graduates high school this year. I'm getting a new car (haven't had one of those in several years). I'm hoping to buy a house. A bigger house than I have now. I'm also going to go back to school next fall to finish my Bachelor Degree.
Things are definitely looking up. I'm thankful.
