Emotional affair or lust is sin too, but the act itself is greater, When lust is planted it can be repented of and reversed, sornication can never be undone.
I wonder if we more upset if our mates lusted after someone verses fornicating with them?

I'm not sure I could agree. Verbal and written conversation, IMO, can be very emotional and I believe you could become very attached to a person that way. I think if your mind, heart and emotions are tied up with that person, it's plain and simple adultery. I don't think you have to engage in a physical relationship to be deemed as committing adultery.
I believe if your heart is turned away from your spouse and you are engaging with another person, say via the Internet, it's adultery. Again, that is my opinion. If my husband was doing that, I would consider that adultery.

Good question. I guess if they actually had a physical relationship, it would be much harder to forgive. I think it would be for me, anyway.

Like I said it is purely relative at that point and anyone could say how they consider it...
Some may consider our exchange here to be beyond the pale...
BTW I am not saying emotional attachments outside marriage are right or not hurtful/sinful.

Okay, you added the bold after I logged out. I don't understand what you mean. It's been pretty safe wording and surface explanations, IMO.

Absolutely - I agree. Just saying, I am engaging in conversation about marriage and divorce with a female other than my wife. I depends on what someone wants to label it.

Oh, well, I guess we didn't give it another thought, but you have a good point.
