Re: Cosmetics???
(sigh)
I think too many saints major on the minors, and minor on the majors, preaching personal convictions as doctrine.
And that's part of the reason some of our churches have not made the steps forward they need to.
Lord, help your people.

I will await your reading of the exact words witnessed in scripture concerning this new convenant and then marvel in how you find any specific counsel to share without doing exactly what you have determined is my error in this thread. And since they are exact words, they really will not need you reading them at all since they simply will say it all (raises the question if preacher's should limit speaking to only the unregenerated).
I appreciate you not wanting to have this spill over into thread after thread after thread, I suppose such consistency would be annoying.
I also appreciate you taking the time to post your opinions since afterall, that is really all any of us have on an internet forum.

Do you know why cosmetics are such a major issue for you?
The 35 billion-dollar cosmetic industry is booming.
Charitible religious giving is 90 billion. If men don't do makeup, children don't it looks to be about equal. Tammy Faye baker sure was a good leader for the sector.

Now that's funny.
Cosmetics are not a major issue for me at all.
I dont use them, neither does my wife.
(As a matter of fact, you seem to be a bit more emotionally invested in this issue than I am.)
What is an issue for me is
1/ people teaching personal convictions as doctrines... (even more so when they have a judmental attitude toward those who dont share those same convictions), and
2/ people who claim to be astute bible scholars, but who wish to pass down various unnecessary & burdensome rules and traditions previously handed to them as doctrine... without examining all things to see how they measure up in the light of scripture.

Oh good lord, at least get someone that people really want to look like - - Christy Brinkley or something, but Tammy Faye's make-up was a joke to everyone.

Your heroes?
Brinkley married four times:
French artist Jean-François Allaux (born in Rabat, Morocco), (1973–1981).[17]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christie_Brinkley
last deal ended in adultery and divorce. Tammy Faye is dead. she married the man that fixed her husband up with a girlfriend. Roe Messner.
So how would you rate Christie Brinkley? Looks like things don't work out well for her. Ms. dysfunctional woman of the year awards.
Note to self. If prostitutes use make-up, is there a reason?
Christie brinkley shows us a model can attract men that do not work out as husband material. Suspicions confirmed. she had a Covergirl makeup contract.
Any other witnesses to success?

Listen, read slowly. Tammy Faye is NOT the model for make-up. Even the world knows she WAS (note I knew she was passed already) a joke.
I simply meant get a person that is not so extreme, which apparently you do not know how to do. I don't have any heroes and especially make-up heroes. I was just pointing out someone more attractive with their makeup than Tammy.
You are correct - - she had a Covergirl contract (thank goodness for www that you can look up all this info) - - Tammy Faye didn't. My point exactly.

so the world doesn't respect or idolize women for their minds. So sad.

looks like tammy Fay had 2 conficted felons in her life.
It looks like my view of saints and success is not like yours at all.

I don't think you can totally discount the fact that some women are very respected for their minds and not appearance alone.

The point was the outward appearance and example of application of cosmetics with these two people. It wasn't about their biographies.
You're hitting Renda on a place she wasn't going nor referring to.
Now, I will agree with your points on the "pride". Many times and subconsciously, cosmetics, IMO, appeal to our pride.
BUT, because of the topic of this thread, I will have to go with TRFrance's response that we are looking for scripture for or against and not our personal views or convictions on the subject.
