I had already started looking for a new church, but it was actually one of the final nails in the coffin of my choosing to leave the organization period... I am so totally sick of things that people just seem to be blind to.

ForeverBlessed, we attended the girls' basketball tournaments in Springfield, MO 2-3 weeks ago, and when we went to the award's ceremony, we had to search all over the stadium to find good seats. There were sections saved for teams, families, school groups, etc. BIG DEAL!!! LOL!!!!! It has NOTHING to do with church. For that matter, once we were seated, Jeff had to take Jeffrey to go to the bathroom, and you can be SURE that while they were gone, I was keeping their two seats open.
I wouldn't do that at "regular" church, but at youth conventions you have church groups trying to all sit together, so they don't get stuck with strangers--which, again, is important to
kids.
I think it is crazy to judge a bunch of young kids for dressing up. Most teenagers like to look good for their peers--it's important to them. Look at how important it is in school! They may not dress up, but they definitely want whatever is hip and cool, if their parents can afford it. When teenagers go to large gatherings, it is NOT just for spiritual pursuits--and that is the way it should be.

They're there to worship AND to socialize.
