Three months seems a little long, imo. However, I completely understand why the Pastor wouldn't go to the church during his vacation. Do you take vacation & show up at work everyday? No, because you wouldn't be able to decompress and relax and would continually be pulled into resolving issues. Same thing with a Pastor. The church is his work. Yes, it should be a calling as well, but it is also work.
