I just read this to my family...just to see if I was overreacting. My wife and my teenager both threw their hands to their mouths and gasped loudly.

Am I the only one messed up about this? I looked and there's no other outrage. Maybe I'm from a different planet, but "durn" that's not funny at all. I can't believe it.

This thread was meant as a JOKE. That happens around here sometimes. Yes, we realize some people find things funny that other people don't find funny-- but there's no need for an over-reaction. Participation in public forums requires the ability to learn to overlook some things you don't agree with, and just move on rather than try to start something over every post you don't agree with. I'm serious.

Oh come on, people. I was joking about being upset. Y'all didn't understand that? It was just a big joke!

Tina, I overlook a ton of things I disagree with. These days I'm even passing over the "all trinitarians are going to hell" remarks I see. But it's hard to laugh at a joke about drowning someone and it's hard to overlook. I'm sure it's no fun to see me jump in the middle of a laugh-fest and spoil the fun. But someone has to be a voice crying in the wilderness and I will be (poor ole me) so y'all can go ahead and hit me with your best shots.

I once stood on the fourth tee box of a golf course and a UPC pastor asked, "Hey, do you like _______ jokes?" The word in the blank is the ultimate racist word that I'm sure our president has heard many times.

But since that fellow was joking, I guess it's ok.
