I don't know (or really want to say )...I'm just saying that in some cases, crimes are so deplorable and go on for so long, that I don't believe true justice is possible (especially in our legal system).

Now for an ethical question. Our culture finds this story disgusting. But one part many don't find disgusting would be the abortion for the mother pregnant at age 14 by a child molestor and aborting the 2 liittle ones that are now 11 and 15. Pro abortion people have a "out of sight out of mind" coping mechanism. I say the 2 girls are valued and precious. I understand they will never be able to see/visit their dad before they turn 18.

And you think they SHOULD see this person who is quote/unquote their father BEFORE they're 18??? I'm sorry, but I don't see the harm in them NOT seeing this man before then...and even after personally.

Oh no. He was already a molestor and required to stay away from minors.

.

The word "should" didn't come from me.

I guess it depends on why you feel we should "punish" and what the result should be.

Do we lock people up to rehabilitate them?

To protect others from them?

Because they deserve it?

Or is it revenge?

We all deserve death for our sins, right? I hope he discovers Jesus and brings others to the truth. If he finds Jesus, the all things will work together for good for him.

But that has no relation whatsoever as to why we punish.

Sorry, I was responding more to the question of deserving it or is it revenge. I certainly hope it is NOT revenge in our hearts we wish for.
