Again Baron, part of Crownover's intent or context for writing was to provide a "point-by-point study of the statement on "Holiness" found in the UPCI Articles of Faith. This section attempts to present in an unbiased manner the historical, biblical, and practical meaning of each point as it is variously understood and taught in UPCI churches. "

This is the expressed context ...

Not sure what his intent was in this power point, I doubt that it was to rewrite anything. One thing I have liked about RC is that while he doesn't try to make waves he also doesn't just go with the flow. He has identified himself with the PCI views on more than one occasion and though very conservative by his own admissions, he doesn't want to see those to the left of him demonized or run out of the UPC. I know for a fact he has asked those from a more liberal viewpoint not to leave the UPC.

I guess traditional teachings on television depends on the part of the country and the pastor you had.

Bro, I fully understand that RC is one of the more peaceable teachers in the movement ... however, the literature coming out of the org ... and org institutions was very dogmatic even 20 years ago about television watching ... in instance after instance.

This hill has been surrendered ... even at educational institutions like UGST.

These are not defensible positions, so they must be surrendered or risk losing the war.

Which positions do you think are the next line in the sand?

I think it's hair.

Not sure DKB is ready to rewrite his practical holiness book.

To me it certainly is one of the positions that is most difficult to defend, but the new GS probably isn't ready to eat crow on that yet.

No, I don't think he ever will but it will continue to be pressed ...

Things such as makeup and jewelry are being given a pass ... in "moderate" dosages ... Pants not addressed in the Holiness article at all ... and tolerated by some churches.

I think many feel that the one passage on hair is enough to make it an "essential truth" ... as expressed by WeDeclare crowd.

The lines in the sand are the 5 or 6 essentials ... that the WeDeclare crowd expressed ... imo.

Some of them already ceded.

Pants were not addressed in which holiness article?

I think all of these things will still be a fight for a time, but they have to give up on some of these positions or risk further reduction in numbers and influence.

Myself, I would think jewelry and makeup (most of them wear makeup already). Jewelry has many positive mentions in the bible. The hair thing can be difficult. When wading through the "rules" one by one, the hair issue was a difficult one for me. I actually had to study on that one!
