Wow...
I thought I was a pretty progressive fellow but this thread has been an eye opener.

The event isn't planned for the sanctuary as part of a worship service. It's in a multi-use hall.

I don't believe alcohol or smoking will send someone to hell either, but I don't want it going on in the church fellowship hall.

Re: Square Dancing at Church??
Our previous pastor, L.H. Hardwick, would never allow any type of dancing associated with the church. I guess that policy has changed! What do they say now to couples who may want dancing at their wedding reception at the church? Only square dancing?

I never thought it was allowed there in the past. But they have moved on, so I guess things always change.

I can understand a blanket policy about not having it at the church.... Which is why couples need to NOT have their receptions at their church. Believe me, many tried to talk us into having our at theirs.

Do you compare square dancing with alcohol and tabacco use?
For me, square dancing is just silly, but to each his own I guess - at least on this one. Most places I know of - if you want an EMPTY hall just advertise a square dancing event. LOL.
