1 Corinthians 11:1-16 (KJV)
1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
2 Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.
3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
4 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.
5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.
6 For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.
7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.
8 For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man.
9 Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.
10 For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.
11 Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.
12 For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.
13 Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?
14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.
16 But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.
These passages are to men and women alike. And it has everything to do with
obedience and submission to the Mighty GOD IN CHRIST. Paul is setting things in
God's order. There is an order in creation, family, church. If things are done in
decency and in order, they will work. Things out of order will surely back up on
you, IF IGNORED!!! Just ignore that plumbing problem long enough. Just ignore that
seemingly little problem in your marriage, ignore that trend you see in that young
teenager. Better to deal with that "little" problem than to put it on IGNORE!
And in your family, if he won't take care of it, woman, you had better do it. Some-
one has got to do it. And God so equipped her so that if he wouldn't take care of
it, she could. She has the God-given "power" of the Most High, to do it. She has
THE NAME. She has the same Power given to men and women at Pentecost. The
Head of all principality and power provided it. IN CHRIST there is no difference in
Jew or Gentile, bond or free, male or female, but are all ONE in Christ Jesus!
The body is made to work in good order. We can refuse the order of God's order
by abusing it. Today there are many that have and are having to have by-pass
surgery, especially pertaining to the heart. By-pass is not what God intended but
is a merciful alternative in order for mankind to be able to live longer.
Sometimes the order in which God intended for things to work smoothly and effect-
tively, have had to be by-passed, or even "cut off" in order for the survival or life of
the whole body, unit, etc. Amputation is hard on the body but sometimes may be
necessary.
As in the case where you have a family where either parent refused the order God set
for them, the one out of order will either submit/obey the one set over them, or there
may need to be a by-pass in order for the survival of that marriage or family unit. It can
be either the man or the woman and can be the children also.
GOD, Christ, man, woman, and children. Sometimes it doesn't work in this order, because
someone is OUT OF ORDER! Hearts out of order may need by-pass surgery. Just this week
a friend of mine, had a heart procedure in which they shocked her heart and got it back in
order as God intended it. GOD knows how to do heart procedures too. But if the person re-
fuses to let (allow/permit) the Great Physican to help them, they may die. Spiritually or
physically. God provides mercy and grace to those who will receive it.
