Re: Putting the bible to the test....per Scripture
I would also like to add...
9) Many loosen there responsibility by simply accepting something by default instead of thinking about hte issues we face in textual critcism. Like KJV Onlyists. They despise the thought of actually having to think and OHHHH the horror of something not being perfect. THUS THIS VERSION IS INSPIRED AND NO MORE THINKING REQUIRED. This is nothing but idol worship. You have elevated a translation OVER the guiding of the Spirit to learn truth as they will tell you if what you are hearing doesn't line up with this book it's error. That's all nice but the KJV has a lot of issues due to doctrinal opinion in translation. Thus you MAKE the Spirit war against his Word when error is seen unnecessarily.
10) work out your own salvation with fear and trembling and quit accepting things by default as true and false.
11) Study the ancient works by his leading. Don't let people tell you right or wrong let God.
12) If apparant contradiction is seen among writers. What does the whole group of writings say. Does the writer contradict himself? If so and what he says on other areas lines up with the rest of scripture then you go with the common text and meaning over the ambiguous.
13) Study common themes of the culture of the Jews and writings to be more informed don't negate them. Much truth is in them.
14) If the God is true and you are true of heart he will lead you. Stepping out of the comfort zone and studying independently is ALL ABOUT FAITH in his leading!
