I also don't consider it sinful or a 'battle". Just a guy appreciating stuff he is hardwired to appreciate. The ones who DO consider it a battle are the ones who are constantly white knuckled trying to think of baseball (unless that of course is a sin as well) as they walk down the grocery isle doing whatever it takes to not have ANY improper thoughts and feeling condemnation at every one that slips by.

I would agree with that, Randy. Scripture says to bring EVERY thought under submission- we are going to have thoughts, maybe it is to shoot the clerk at the DMV, or jealousy of someone who got a bonus at work, we have to acknowledge these thoughts and deal with them- That's my opinion anyway. So far this has been successful for me, as my husband is still alive and well and able to post(as opposed to where I have thought him to be at one time or another in the last 18 years)

So you define it differently.
The ability to make it brief (as your wife appreciated) is part of that battle. It's not always a conscious sweat match with white knuckles.
I've used the word battle, and described every man varying in degree. Same susceptibility.
(Hopefully you're just as quick returning your glance when the wifey isn't on your arm! )

If a man gets white knuckled, now THAT is a problem. LOL!

I still sense naiveness with the whole concept of "looking." You seem to think a man and woman are on the same page when "looking."
Randy? Just admiring her fashion?

I'm certainly not advocating an anti-bad thought campaign. If it's sounded that way, I apologize.
However, this "bringing thoughts into captivity" is akin to the battle I described.
Do nudie sex scenes in a movie help that "bringing thoughts captive" or do they "fan the flame?"

What do you think either one of them was thinking?

It is easy for females to completely misunderstand male sexuality, a wise father is very important in this area. It is a powerful thing, and if it can be moderated by education and appropriate exposure, that is a very good thing.

I agree with you, but I wouldn't include graphic sex scenes in the category of "appropriate exposure."
Fathers are very important, and I think the way THEY react to sexual images or even scantily clad women (or mannequins in the Victoria's Secret window) is more influential longterm. They're sending their kids messages about the appropriate way to react.
If a man sees a scantily clad woman and reacts with disgust and disrespect, he teaches his son to objectify women. Reacting calmly and respectfully will teach his son to be a gentleman even when the woman isn't dressed like a lady. The best exposure kids can get, IMO, is by seeing their parents, grandparents and other happily married couples flirt with each other and show normal affection within the boundaries God has set.
Education, lots of communication, good examples, biblical perspective--YES!!! Graphic sex scenes in movies? Never necessary.

Bratti- you make a great point. I was 15 when I got saved in a UPC church. I invited every friend that I had and one of them had a habit of dressing a bit scantily. She came a couple of times and stopped, when I asked her why, she said because the church was full of perverts who stared at her cleavage and legs, I told her that maybe the way she was dressing was attracting the innapropriate attention. Her response was that no one stared at her the way they did in church.
I am sure that was an exaggeration, but you bring up a great point, we need to teach our children how to respond appropriatetly or the first time they get a look, "in the flesh", well....
