Had the very same happen to us in our small church. 9 people left and started their own church with the help of persons we had given many thousands of dollars to and trusted. We did nothing and God replaced the 9 with more than 20. Two of the 20 have received the HG and 3 were baptized in Jesus name.

Seems like it would all depend on how involved this situation is? For example, have families actually left at this evangelists's words?
I would definitely Tweet about it.

This does represent something of a trial that most of the UPC is currently facing or will soon face. I've seen pastors actually drive their churches into the ground rather than pass the work along to anyone.

It's a sad fact; there is really very, very little vision for the future within the UPC. This was made especially clear recently when General Sup. DKB and the current Home Missions guy said that they were willing to dump the "second and third generation" of saints and focus on "winning souls" that were compatible with their agenda.

In my eyes, this facet of the UPC represents nothing but death. People like JK (Jr.) in Houston who actually cares about pastoring the souls that they've been charged with should be given more prominence.

The current path leads to an Isaiah 5:14, type of judgement.

We need more Isaiah 40, type of pastors.

Look at the contrast. No wonder folks say that Isaiah was written by "two different" men. We need our pastors to become "different men" as well.

There needs to be rules for "the ministry", rather than forcing rules on the sheeple. A code of ethics that must be obeyed. If they break it punish them based on the severity of the crime. From not preaching to a year, to lose of license etc and not being allowed to preach anywhere

So out of the 20, 18 are still lost?

Sort of, but for now they're helping to "pay for" the outreach to another 20 so that another 2 can be "saved."

In the end we will have "4 saved" and 36 who are just pissed off at us and posting about it on AFF.

Well that depends on your definition of lost. They might not believe there that you have to speak in tongues and be baptized. However if they do believe in baptism then only 17 are lost

Paul had no issues calling a spade a spade ... went as far as calling out "false brethren" ...

I agree with Pelathais ... he has a charge and it's to tend and take care of the sheep God has bestowed ...

When a wolf comes to destroy ... it's time to take out the rod ...

Re: Life Church Houston

BTW we experience that kind of stuff all the time. One reason Im glad the WD split in half and the old farts left, but they still talk about the church (UPC) down the street
