If you are dead to sin by being buried in baptism, how are you saved at repentance alone? Wouldn't you "walk in newness of life" if you were saved? Romans says that you "walk in newness of life" after we are raised like as Christ was raised from the dead.

How is Christ raised? By the Spirit.

"But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you." Romans 8:11

We need to be filled with His Spirit to walk in newness of life. It begins with repentance, but doesn't stop there.

Looks like I'm sticking with Acts 2:38 (Repent AND be baptized...for the remission of sins...) and the badly termed "3-stepper" doctrine.

Yeah, that whole believing in Jesus thing is so whimpy. I mean, ANYONE can believe in Jesus (disregarding no one can even confess he is LORD except by the Spirit) and we can't have it that easy. People need to jump through more hoops than that. I mean, the gift he has given us is like a rebate... yeah, you get some cash, but first you have to send it back within 30 days. *rolls eyes*

Case-in-point: this isn't about baptism or spirit baptism, it's about a distorted view of what God's grace really is. Get acquainted with the Story. He found you. He called you. He saved you. He even gave us the ability to believe. That was accounted as righteousness.
