This thread is about adornment which for all intents and purposes includes jewelry, makeup, perfume, and all those little ribbons and sparkles that women put in their hair. Also clothing and shoes, etc......
It is also about a religious organization that forces women to look old before their time (to which men are largely exempt from just about every rule). When someone is 30 they should be allowed to look 30, when 40 they should look 40, etc. They should not be forced to go from 20 to 50. It is not about wanting a trophy wife who always looks 18, and when she doesn't anymore, replace her. It's about being able to grow old with someone gracefully.

Can't no org make a women look older before their time. If someone looks older it because they physically look older. Make up just covers it, but they are what they are. Maybe what we need is deliverance from others.

Re: Adornment!!
Our women? RANDY, I don't want a woman who belongs to someone else. AND if I had a woman I doubt that I'd share her with the community. Also, I don't identify as a part of the movement. OUR women... that always made me laugh.

Re: Adornment!!
I was ultra conservative until I was 37. People in and out of church mistook me for being in my 20s. Still do. The standards didn't make me look older--and I followed those standards wholeheartedly.
A little make up does make me feel better and look somewhat better on days I'm tired, and I have gotten more compliments now that I can wear fitted clothes. But people actually guess me closer to my age now than they did before I left.

Re: Adornment!!
I have two big streaks of white hair growing out of the back of my head. It is pure age but people think I colored it that way on purpose, a little like Rogue from the X-Men.

Re: Adornment!!
What I never understood are those who are strongly against makeup but can't go a day without a tanning bed and get weekly french manicures and pedicures trying to say it is "natural" - oh and also have a fund set aside for botox injections. It used to bother me but now I just kind of chuckle at those and go about my own business .

Ya, I am 41. Age is creeping up on me. One of the good things is that I actually have all my hair. Granted Jason Statham made male-patterned baldness look GOOD, but I still prefer having it.

You are 100% correct. I have seen shows where people were asked to guess a ladies age. Lets say she was 45 and the average guess was 32. I would find myself thinking, "No, she looks 45! A very GOOD 45, but still 45.". Likewise on the other end these same shows would show an extremely frumpy unkempt 30 year old and the average guess would be 47. Again, she still looked 30 -just very frumpy. I'm actually very good and guessing a woman's age to within a certain range but am horrible at figuring out a guys. I am usually way off on that one and have no idea why it is so much harder. After all does Mathew Broderick look like he is in his upper 40's??
Personally I come to these discussions with the attitude that we should look appropriate for our age. It is about not being 40 and dressing like your in high school or conversely, being 25 and not dressing like your grandma.

Re: Adornment!!
I can understand why some would want to wear makeup to cover blemishes but what would be the purpose of red lipstick?
Some have said women wear stuff to compete with each other, which may be the case but the basis for what women wear regarding makeup, jewelry, etc... is for the opposite sex.
