Full salvation

Full salvation? What's that? Can someone be half saved? Which half goes to heaven? Is that like being half pregnant? Dumb.

When I saw the title of the thread, I thought, "Oh man, what a stupid term that is. I can't stand these guys."

Looks like you beat me to it! My least-favorite two terms: 1) Spirit-Filled Church; 2) Full Salvation.

#1 is a very broadly used term and is more popular outside OPism.

Yes, I am aware of that. I hate the term. It means, 'We speak in tongues." They should say, "Tongues Church", not "Spirit-filled."

I thought this would be a good time to play Carmen's Spirit Filled Pizza but I could not find it

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Yes, accepting of tongues - but I think it's broader than that, and because it means more than "tongues" some conservative Pentecostals shun the term.

Re: Full salvation

I think its a valid term myself. One is obviously not fully saved if they have not done all thats required for one to be saved. There are millions of people who are not "fully saved".

They recite a little prayer up front at church and the preacher proclaims them "saved"!

Yeah, and some people go up front and say, "Hallelujah" so fast that the preacher proclaims them "saved."

Re: Full salvation

Historically, it came into use with the advent of Pentecostalism and other "Restorationist" movements. The early practitioners all had to confess that they were introducing something new to the discussion. Thus, they had to distinguish between the "old" salvation and the "new" salvation" without sending their forebears to hell.
