Acts 2:38 was something new? I thought it was proclaimed by Peter and the rest of the Apostles on the day of Pentecost? I figure that was about 2000 years ago.

Just because "believers" discarded it did not change what was always there.

FALSE.

Bunch of half-saved brothers walking around, eh? God who has begun a work is not faithful to the end?

Nope, Mizpeh. That's not saved either.

Reciting doesn't save anyone anymore than blabbering spit out of your mouth.

Confessing and believing Jesus as LORD saves. HE saves us. HE does the work.

Thus, "Full Gospel" groups, including Four Square, etc..

You are correct, historically it was associated with Pentecostalism.

You've left out repentance and receiving the Holy Spirit. Not to mention water baptism. All three of these involve the work of the Spirit.

Yes, they do involve a work of the Spirit. But we are his by by His grace through faith. (I've left nothing out)

Repentance and believing are simultaneous. We can dissect them as we do justification and regeneration, but I truly believe they are simultaneous. And, yes, both are a work of the Spirit. We can't even believe except by the Spirit.

God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Eph 2:8

But we both agree rambling in tongues or reciting a prayer doesn't save you
