I apologize for "raising my voice" at you when I really should have been raising my voice at Esther at her false accusation.

This was not a referrence to you or anyone on AFF-- I am talking about the lokes of the t.v. and radio talking heads that continue to dwell on this-- they are the ones that are fomenting the groundless suspicion and hate.

Those who actually think for a minute that a person who was not born in America would somehow dupe the FBI and/or CIA is deceived-- caught up in their own desires for a reason to deligitimize the man.

You have a valid point concerning getting past the CIA and or FBI. I'm not familiar with how any presidential candidate is vetted.

Just last night, my roommates and I got into a heated discussion over the disrespect and humiliation that Bush endured with the release of the movie, "W" and the U.S. Senator from SC that called Obama a liar during the SOTU address.

It was very heated.

I have defended Bush on AFF, just as I have criticized Obama on AFF.

Glad to see you're even handed. Bush has experienced the kind of hatred that, imo, is truly irrational. He had to cancel an appearance in Switzerland in Feb. due to concerns of his safety. Can you imagine the humiliation that must bring? He's been out of office for two years and he's still harrassed.

Some things, just like some people never change. You can tell their motivations by their actions and the context in which people do what people do.

If you would like to suggest that we can't tell when a person is being hateful by examining their actions, then you are wrong.

I just can't understand how people disagreeing with policies is raised to hatred. If they're burning a person in effigy or carrying signs full of hateful words, then yes, it's obvious. But, not just disagreeing with policies.

Again, I apologize. I could have sworn that we were in a dialogue and I thought that post was part of our dialogue.

The people who are stirring the pot so to speak on a national level over this stupid accusation are not Christian. Howeever, there are Christians who are deceived into believing that there is a possibility that President Obama was not born in America.

Until Trump brought this up recently, I honestly don't remember any real national dialouge on this subject.

I addressed you because we were in a conversation. I messed up. I'll be more careful next time.

GWB had 8 years to earn the level of hate he had to endure-- in LARGE part to his wicked advisors who lied to him.

I personally believe that GWB was let down by a lot of people and since he was the President, the buck stopped with him-- as it should.

There was some validity for some of the disdain that people had for him, but the burning of the effigy of the man was beyond overboard.

I believe Bush to have been an honest man, doing what he truly thought was best. IMO, I don't think he earned any of the disdain people had and still have for him.

Still, his American identity was never questioned.

In all honesty, you can't possibly be surprised at that? His grandfather was a US senator, his father the vice president then president. If his American identity was questioned that would be laughable.

The reason we are discussing the birther issue is because there are people who are motivated by hate for the man (whether it be for his ideas or his skin color or whatever irrational reason they can come up with).

These are the people that are giving credence to the groundless suspicions and encouraging hate.

Three years ago, this could have been part of a civil discourse within the political world. When he addressed the issue, it should have been put to rest then. Unfortunately, it wasn't.

You seem to be stuck on "hate". I don't know how to address that with you, so I leave it up to you and the Lord to figure that out.
I can't make disagreeing with his policies (and I will til the bitter end) equal to hatred.
