Oh, please.

I like wearing a ring that shows I'm attached. It means something to me--and to my husband. In fact, I think it's a bit funny that UC's who believe so strongly that women should have a symbol of authority on their heads (uncut hair) don't also apply that logic to having a symbol of attachment on their hands.

How weird that you don't want to "tell the world you are married." I think it would hurt my feelings if my husband felt that way. And how does one "act married?" If you mean "act moral", then I would say that single Christians have to do that, too, so what are you talking about exactly????

Or preach against it wearing colorful adorning tie.

What some gave up in jewelry made up for it in clothes.

That was the main reason that Jeff and I bought rings. My Dad's church didn't allow them either, but when I was pregnant with Hannah, I was so embarrassed--I knew that it looked like I was unmarried and pregnant.

I love jewelry, but now I only wear my wedding set.

The principle is the same in both cases or with expensive clothing as well. If you follow a principle you find that there are little to no inconsistencies when talking about things like this.

I fully expect rdp to show and give his 2 cents on the subject.

So my question is why would it be wrong to wear rings but its ok to wear wedding bands. Isn’t a wedding band a ring? Isn’t it jewelry? Are they trying to justify it by calling it a wedding band?
wedding rings and bands are considered "functional" jewelry like a watch. They are not looked at as the women trying to adorn themselves (as long as the lady or man doesn't go too far with the diamond!)

I say if you attend a church under a pastor who preaches against all rings, including wedding rings, then you should follow that or find another place you can submit. Submission is so important as you can't be lead by someone you won't submit to.

Jewelry is pretty, but I can't stand to wear it. I don't even wear a watch. I've never had a problem with anyone asking if I was married or not without a ring. Jewelry makes me feel claustrophobic. LOL!
