Hats

After watching the Royal Wedding I was amazed how many were wearing hats.

If you look at pics back arount the 20, 30, 40 and 50 era men and women always wore a hat when going out.

What do you think of the trend of wearing hats?

Do you think there will be a resurrance of hats?

If so, will you start wearing one?

Re: Hats

Not sure if there will be a renewed interest in ladies wearing hats.
I know that I would not wear one. Just not a fashion that I care for.

Re: Hats

I notice no one was wearing capri pants.

Do you all think that some one indicates there are standards of dress for these events?

Re: Hats

I don't know if it will be a trend again. Seems like hair styles are so important here, that people aren't going to cover up their hair.

I used to have an electric blue fedora when I was in my early 20's. I loved that hat, but haven't wore one since. I'm not especially fond of hats.

Re: Hats

When I first came to Cincinnati in 1957, a woman or teen age girl was not considered "dressed for Church" if she did not wear a hat, hose, and gloves to Sunday School. This was a "white" church.

Re: Hats

Its not about fashion trends. In Europe women still remember they are supposed to cover their heads in Church and some do it all the time.

Re: Hats

Esther, hats in England and especially to weddings is tradition.

It was even stated in the 22 page etiquette book each invitee received.

I believe Esther is talking about it being a trend in America again. I know what she is talking about because my mother had a closet full of hat boxes. I was fascinated by them when I would open that closet door! Full of round hat boxes. LOL!

Well, hats are all around Memphis because of COGIC, so it's the rest of the white world that needs to catch up - lol!!

I love hats, but I look terrible in them. I believe there will be a resurrection of them because a couple of my friends actually wore them for Easter this year! They looked stunning in them.
