Re: men and earrings..

I am a tried and true, blue blood, BY THE BOOK Apostolic Pastor, I am male and (shock and awe) I have both ears pierced, and it was done years after I received Acts 2:38 salvation.

I rarely wear earrings, mostly because my ears are shaped funny and it kinda looks weird but I do wear them occasionally and it doesn't bother me at all. But, my stance on the "Holiness Standard" probably differs from most people on here, I am actually sitting in my office in a pair of shorts as I type this.

If someone is going to make a "standard" they need to read the Word, make sure they understand what they have read, IN FULL CONTEXT (yes that includes historical context), make sure it applies culturally today and then present it, not just take a scripture or to and make doctrine out of it!

Re: men and earrings..

They pierced the ears of the men who were slaves in the time of Christ. Jesus was no one's slave. But I am a servant[ trans. in Hebrew slave] so if Jesus wants to pierce my ear then he can do it and not another.
But so far he has not spoken to me on any such matter.
But he has been telling me from the beginning of our relationship to be separate from the world, and come out from among them. So I have been busy on that for now going on forty years, and still trying to master it.
It just hard not to get mud on one self when you have to wade out into it to rescue the weak.

Who cares.

Personally, I like them. I like gauges too.

I'm well, Sis A.

Alright, IMO earrings on men have been a part of our culture long enough to not be considered a fad. It is socially and culturally acceptable. A church that allows and accepts women wearing bifurcated garments should have absolutely no issue with men wearing earrings.

I understand what your saying and I agree with your reasoning behind it, but one thing you said is where the whole matter hinges, you said a "church that allows"-- thats the problem with us Apostolics, we think that the "church" has say in what folks wear and how folks govern their lives, well, we don't. People should govern by the Word of God not by the "words" of a pastor!

I like your quote. It brings out a lot of truth. Pastors should not have to stand in front of the church year after year and try a convince supposedly Holy Ghost filled believers in how they should live, dress, act, and look.
Jesus said the Holy Ghost would lead men in all truth concerning God's will and purpose in their life/
Peculiar people? Indeed some of them are!

When I had my spiritual change through the power of the Holy Spirit I didn't need anyone telling me to be separate from the world, I wanted too.
And in that day there was a culture too. Long hair, ear rings, beards, bell bottom pants, flowered shirts, stacked heels with patten leather. I had one of the most beautiful pairs of white patten leather shoes in that time that you could buy. Some how every time I put them on and went to church something deep inside of me moved and I didn't feel at ease with them. When I threw them away and a lot of other worldly stuff, I felt clean and free of that world that tried to destroy me in the first place.

This concept of a church "allowing" is so foreign to me.

My church doesn't allow. It encourages people to serve in the church and most of all in the community. It encourages people to seek God. It encourages people to connect with other people.

Why would you dress differently to go to church? I don't find instructions or examples in the NT that believers were supposed to wear anything different than their every day clothing. Also, where does the "worldly clothing" thing come in? Did Christians have different clothing after Jesus died?

It sounds like your church encourages you to focus on others instead of looking at yourself in the mirror and compare your looks and dress to others.
