He also said that except your righteousness exceed that of the pharisees you will in no way enter the kingdom of heaven. (Matt. 5:20) While many say there is no directive/commandment in the NT for a believer to pay a set amount of tithe, the principle is still there and if anything we are encouraged to give more than 10% for he that sows sparingly will reap sparingly, but he that sows bountifully shall reap bountifully. Where do you get this thing of tithing from. The reason Jesus told the Pharissees to tithe not on money but mint, and anise(Herbs) cause they at the time were sitting in Moses Seat and were under the LAW and were required to do so. Jesus was not talking to the church. The church started in the book of Acts.
