Earlier, in your passionate attempt to preach a message of love and compassion, you also operated in judgment while talking about love all in the same paragraph. According to you I had "an ego" because I placed an emphasis on Jesus’ message of “sin no more.” You concluded that I lacked love and threw me into the whole heap of “what’s wrong with the church.” Gee, thanks. I don't make a practice out of having dialogue with people who draw such hasty conclusions, but if the name calling is done, let's get back to the topic at hand.

YOU are the one who brought up the scripture about Jesus and the woman in adultery and I simply pointed out that the conclusion of the matter as far as Jesus was concerned was that she GO HER WAY AND SIN NO MORE. So if you look at the ENTIRE scripture, you will see that in no way was Jesus suggesting to the woman that after He let's her go her way- that she turns to her accusers and says-- I AM GOING TO SEE YOU SORRY PEOPLE IN COURT! HOW DARE YOU DISCRIMNATE AGAINST ME AND TELL ME THAT ME KISSING ANOTHER GIRL IS WRONG? I DON'T CARE OF THIS IS A UPC SCHOOL...YOU SHOULD LET ME DO WHAT I WANT TO DO AND BECAUSE YOU WON'T, I'M GOING TO SUE.

I get the whole point about compassion, because that's in the story too. The Bible is GREAT like that. One reader can get one lesson, while another sees another lesson. I see the compassion but I also see correction. We cannot “stone” this young lady because we all have sinned, however, we can also preach the message that Jesus taught. That is this, after correction, if you go your way and sin no more (and that IS what true repentance is) you will be forgiven. But you can’t turn around and sue the people who tried to correct you. Their way of correcting her behavior was to expel her from the school. I support anyone who is willing to take a stand and say-- NO, THAT BEHAVIOR IS NOT OKAY IN THIS SCHOOL AND WE HAVE ALREADY ESTABLISHED WHAT GOES AND WHAT DOES NOT GO HERE. It's a disciplinary action for something that was done against the word of God, and ( I assume—but I really have no way of knowing) is against school policy.

But I guess that's my "ego" talking again.

I am not from California, I am from West Virginia and sin is still sin here as it is on the west coast, but God is STILL as merciful to our mountain sinners as He is to your coastal sinners.

And "not Love them to Christ"? God IS Love, it is His very nature, how can we bring them any other way???

Love is only a part of God's Nature. Holy is also part of his nature. Righteousness. Hatred of Sin.

But he also loves the sinner:
John 3:16 - For God so love the world...
Romans 5:8 - but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

But God hates Sin:
Psalms 5:5 - The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.
Psalm 97:10 - Ye that love the LORD, hate evil...


As my current Pastor said, Do not take God's compassion as a sign of weakness. He may be slow to wrath, but wrath still comes.

Amen. I think of Jude many times when we are accused of lacking love. It takes LOTS of love to correct! If we did NOT love we would turn our heads in the other direction and just let anything go. Love says, I love you enough NOT to allow you to go to hell, or to influence others in the wrong direction. Anyway, Jude 1:23-Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgment. Show mercy to still others, but do so with great caution, hating the sins that contaminate their lives.

Amen! I went to Catholic school. I was not Catholic. They prayed the Rosary. I did not. I can NOT sue them because I was experiencing religious discrimination. SIGH!

Thanks for that. I stumbled upon the article as a "new" link on the Sacramento "CBSLocal" website. It appeared on the right hand column yesterday under the heading "Most Talked About."

I see that it still appears there today.

You California folks are just way more "Hollywood" and far more sophisticated than us rubes out here in "Fly-Over Country." So what do you think? Did the school (or teacher) go "too far?" Was an "opportunity to minister" lost here because of the apparently hasty action?

The problem is simply, Lets exalt our rules over our commission from the Master and lets let legalism rule unchecked. Lets make this little girl a blazing example of the wrath and power of God because we stand in His place as her judge, jury and executioner!

I'm sorry, if the girl had stole a candy bar from the store, or had said a "cuss" word on the playground she would probably have been talked too and told not to do it again, but because she committed a "filthy and disgusting" act of the flesh there is NO ROOM for compassion. Because after all, let's state the simple fact of the matter, the wicked little lesbian heathen is an detestable little sodomite sent into the school to recruit all the other pupils into "choosing" her wicked and vile lifestyle.
