The article is a very "This Happened" type article with no detailed facts. You know, one of those 11:00 drive by news stories. FYI The article is just a written form of a Evening News that was aired.
All this while the California State Government is passing bills making it a Mandate to teach on Homosexuals in school. Not in passing, but mandating that history teachers must teach on [people BECAUSE they are Homosexual, not because of what the person did that was significant.

I agree about how messed up California is. And, we can criticize the news story all we want, but the church and school themselves never spoke up. The "I See / I Ban" sort of impression is what pretty much everyone is left with.
Are saying that you know for a fact that this young lady was counseled before being given the boot? Do you have actual knowledge of just how the church handled this? Just because you know the folks involved, it doesn't necessarily mean that you can't comment. In fact, your comments might be the only ones available that might give us more clarity on just how this was handled.
On the brighter side... this whole thing might also be a tremendous catalyst for growth for the Private/Christian schools of California. People who object to having their children in a "homosexual leaning" environment (and who are probably the majority) could be given a clear alternative to the "state run" system - if the alternative was presented in a clear, thoughtful and loving manner without harsh condemnation.
Most people don't like the "gay thing." They don't hang around with gays and they work with gays only if the environment is professional and the "gay" stuff isn't thrown in their faces all the time. That being said, most of these people also
don't hate gays. They certainly don't want to see homosexuals rounded up into camps or exterminated. It's sort of a live and let live kind of thing.
"I'll be cool if they'll be cool."
We need to present ourselves in a manner that "we're cool" with people who don't see it our way. No need to be harsh. It's just that we do have some principles that we have chosen to follow and certain behavior is proscribed by those principles.
