Re: We did not wear uniforms
from today's issue of the ICOF (International Circle of Faith) on line letter:
Holiness
1001. Holiness is not found in living to the letter of the Law, but reflected through the living law of our life.
1002. Holiness is an attitude reflected in behaviour.
1003. Holiness comes, as we let the hold on our lives, go.
1004. The 'Law of Holiness' needs to be written in our hearts and applied through our will.
1005. Holiness grows as we walk hand in hand with Jesus.
1006. Every day is to be a 'holy-day'
1007. Holiness is a way of life, not a doctrine.
1008. Holiness grows as my will goes.
1009. To walk on the path of holiness I need Jesus at my side.
1010. Holiness is tough, but hell, deadly!
1011. Life is a game, living holiness the aim.
Please feel free to quote these quotes. Acknowledgement of David Tait as the author would be appreciated.

Re: We did not wear uniforms
I think that so many have a seriously distorted notion about holiness. Holiness is not what you do, but instead what you do is a fruit or evidence of holiness. Holiness is a divine work of grace imputed to the believers by faith, and is something we are all called to walk in, not become. We become holy before God when we come into Him. We cannot dress holy or be holy, unless we are in Christ, the one who makes us holy.

Re: We did not wear uniforms
I hate to say this but many times it is who you know...that will determine what you can get away with...that is a general statement...not about this case here for I do not know anything about this case...

But yes all these extra traditions came in with the holiness movement. Pentacostalism always had methodist roots, as also was william seymour.

Is there a link to those pictures somewhere?

I've heard reference to a picture at UPC headquarters with a picture of the wife of Bro. Howard Goss (first UPC Gen. Supt) in which the picture has been modified to remove her pearls. I don't know if this is true or not.
Attached is a picture of Olive Gray, mother of Ken Haney, with her pearls. I think one of the Yadons mentioned this one time and lost his job at Bro. Haney's Bible School.
I think there was a picture shown here of some of the Tennessee or Mississippi leadership and at least one woman had on cap sleeves and short hair and some of the officials had gold watch chains.

You may be thinking of the old picture of a young Olive Haney, "Joy Haney's" mother-in-law.

"Every minute dies a man, Every minute one is born;" I need hardly point out to you that this calculation would tend to keep the sum total of the world's population in a state of perpetual equipoise, whereas it is a well-known fact that the said sum total is constantly on the increase. I would therefore take the liberty of suggesting that in the next edition of your excellent poem the erroneous calculation to which I refer should be corrected as follows:
"Every moment dies a man, And one and a sixteenth is born." I may add that the exact figures are 1.067, but something must, of course, be conceded to the laws of metre."
Charles Babbage in a letter to Alfred, Lord Tennyson, about a couplet in his poem "The Vision of Sin"
