And with all the insecurities we had as young children and especially teens to have to deal with a separation stigma like this "within" the church was just plain and simply cruel.

Ridiculous!
Oh my word.........I never heard of that! It was bad enough just being the only one in my peer group who had not actually spoken in tongues. Somehow I felt inferior, even though I knew I loved the Lord. But.......I'm still thankful that I did receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit, even though it took me 7-1/2 years! I was never taught how easy it could be.

Right. Thankful for all the encouragement and uplifting that is found in the Lord and his people... for the profiling and condemnation not so thankful for that. Glad things are changing for the better!

For the sake of our readers, share with us how easy it is.

Re: Allowing children to seek the Holy Ghost?

For me it wasn't difficult. Before I was baptized I was encouraged to just give God praise and thanks when I came out of the water, and if I started speaking words I didn't understand it was a sign i had recieved the Holy Spirit. So after I came out of the water I gave God praise and thanks, and a few seconds later my lips started fluttering and I started saying things I didn't understand. I really had no idea what was going on since I was taught nothing about baptism, Holy Ghost infilling, or tongues. I had gone to a UPC church on a Sunday morning, came back on Sunday night( how I ended up going to a UPC church at all is another story), someone else was getting baptized that night and the pastor asked if anyone else wanted to be baptized, and I just felt real strongly that it was the right thing to do. The thing is I was 40 when this happened and was so sick of the way I was that I was willing to do anything to change, even give God a chance. That was Sep.8,2002.
I'm really glad I didn't have to wait to recieve HG and go through the "ordeal" of being pushed around and being shouted at in my ear, etc, cause I probably would have punched someone in the nose. I was quite different before I recieved HG.

Re: Allowing children to seek the Holy Ghost?

I understand where some of you all is coming from with the ones that speak in tongues but seem to easily fall back into sin or still doing sin. Remember the devil was an angel and he sinned so someone with the Holy Ghost can fall into sin. Also the thing is some fake it and the reality is, its between them and God if they are being hypocritical. I've known some that confessed and humbled themselves and went back to the altar until they really got it.

The Bible said mark the perfect man, behold the upright. Just because you find a few rotten apples don't mean apples in general are rotten.
