It would be a photographer's dream!
We have a high pressure system hovering over us that won't let moisture in off the Gulf. A new storm that is a Category 1 will end up in Mexico. Such a bummer!!!

Re: Fires In East Texas
I don't know how we have avoided a wildfire here, but I am so thankful we have.

We've had a few close by, but they have been contained.

Re: Fires In East Texas
I'm really surprised we haven't seen any wildfires pop up here in the Dallas area, or at least where I am. And there's PLENTY of farmland nearby.
We definitely need the rain, and each tropical storm that forms and is said to move away from Texas makes it all the worse...

Re: Fires In East Texas
You just cannot fix stupid.
Quote:
Firefighting DC-10 remains grounded
A converted DC-10 jetliner that can drop 12,000 gallons of fire retardant remained grounded today because officials cannot find a pilot qualified to fly it.
The pilot who was qualified to conduct firefighting drops in the Bastrop area was grounded because he worked too many days and was required by federal law to take two days off.

Re: Fires In East Texas
I'll be honest with you. After watching all the coverage battling the wildfires, I could almost fight them myself, around my home and my neighbors, just by watching what the firemen are doing -- raking leaves away from any structure, digging trenches as a barrier, watering down my lawn (even if a restriction is in place). IDK, I guess I'm kinda rogue like that...
