Re: Not Ashamed

I'm ashamed of my spiritual and religious pride. I have hurt good people with my arrogance and bold claims of having "The Truth". My Apostolic, dogmatic views were no different than spirit of the Scribes and Pharisees, and my "Amen’s" upon radical and egotistical preaching haunt me.

I'm ashamed of supporting ideas of the past that lead to strife, anger, and a personal recognition that my Faith in God is better than others.

I'm not ashamed that God has broken me upon the altar of humility, where I realize that His mercy and forgiveness can reach into depths I don't understand. I’m also not ashamed that I have finally admitted that the Apostolic Religion is, just another Religion, where the faults of people are the same as other Denominational, Christian Faiths.

Re: Not Ashamed

nar·row-mind·ed (nr-mndd)
adj. Lacking tolerance, breadth of view, or sympathy; petty.

I guess I'd have to say I'd be ashamed if I was narrow minded.

I am open to God's word and where He wants to lead me to.

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Re: Not Ashamed

Hello, Elder Epley...nice to see you at Pastor Holmes.
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Re: Not Ashamed

I am not ashamed of this message of salvation. I am not ashamed to say that it is the only way to Heaven. I am not ashamed to be Apostolic. However, I am ashamed when others of like faith disregard the sincerity of others who do not have this experience. We will never reach the denominational world with this message as long as we look down on them. I often tell people "I'm not trying to discredit your experience with God or take away from what God has given you, but I am telling you has more to give you!" It was not an attitude of arrogance from Apostolics that pulled me out of the charismatic movement. It was a sincere desire to reach me and help me understand God's Word...but not to treat me as less of a Christian or dismiss the experience with God that I had already had.
