The Paranoia Of Grace.

Why it is when one talks about Grace around some believers, they always say be careful with that grace teaching lest someone will get the impression that grace lets you live loose ? It's almost as if Grace is a swear word of something.
Nobody with any biblical literacy would even think that Grace lets one live any old way.

It's almost as if there is a paranoia about the Grace of God,now you must always remember they say don't forget to mention faith without works is dead, which is true.

However salvation is all of grace or none of grace. The mention of the Grace of God should not make any Christian uneasy about their standing with Christ.

Re: The Paranoia Of Grace.

I don't know. I guess people are afraid of being misunderstood. They think if you emphasis one thought in scripture, you de-emphasize something else.

Just look at the diversity of the folks on AFF.

You have every range of viewpoint from saved by faith alone because God choose you and there is nothing you can do, to saved by faith which results in obedience to many works of righteousness including extra biblical rules of outward holiness.

I am a strong grace preacher and I love preaching the blood and mercy. And a holiness preacher. You can preach BOTH.

Yes you can preach both. Just like you can preach a rapture at any moment, yet you can tell folks to be prepared for what we might face.
A physical resurrection is coming.

Click on sermon palyer

Scroll down towards the bottom of sermons listed and you will find on bgy Steve Epley entitled "EVERYTHINGS GONNA BE ALRIGHT"

A little to much screaming for me, but it may right up your alley Amanah.

Good post.

Listen to this quote by Dr. Martyn LLoyd-Jones (most apostolics probably won't know who he is):

Quote:
“If your preaching of the gospel of God's free grace in Jesus Christ does not provoke the charge from some of antinomianism, you're not preaching the gospel of the free grace of God in Jesus Christ.”
The gospel of grace is so counter-intuitive that Paul anticipates that his opponents will ask the question, "What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound?" His answer is, "By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?"

If you are looking for a good book on grace, get Jerry Bridges' book Transforming Grace. Also, Tullian Tchividjian's sermons and Twitter feed are really good too.

Re: The Paranoia Of Grace.

Everything is going to be alright

he redeemed us by the blood of calvary, and,

the eternal God of heaven tells us "Thou art mine"

he knows us by name

when the floods come you are not going down, you are going over

Re: The Paranoia Of Grace.

Grace IS the ultimate problem for most UC's. They will always say "we are saved by grace AND STRONG HOLINESS STANDARDS!".
