So it is possible he was blindsided by the idea of any settlement. If they were terminated, especially if it was directly related to the harassment allegations, he should have known.

Five-figures would have to raise an eyebrow and then you'd have to wonder if there could actually be two insane women in one place. They both got their five-figures. That is just really strange.
Right, if they were terminated in relation to dealings involving Cain, he should have known about it.

I agree; having more than one accuser gives it more credibility and he really has to address it.
He's just not being straight forward about several different things and I don't like it.

Exactly. And if that story had not come up on Sunday, the article that George Will wrote on Mitt Romney would have been all the talk. Someone really needs to address his horrible flip-flopping. I'm starting to get really annoyed at Fox and Ann Coulter who has called the election for Mitt Romney. They won't be telling me who I will be voting for.
I read this comment today - "Before conservatives decide to go down the aisle with Romney, they better be sure no other candidate is worth it." I agree!

Re: Herman Cain: Blacks Brainwashed
First he says he worked with a lot of people and didn't recall the incident, didn't recall a settlement or payoff and now he is explaining the gesture that caused the trouble. OY!
Quote:
Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain for the first time has offered a detailed recollection of what led an employee of the National Restaurant Association to lodge a sexual harassment charge against him when he was CEO of the organization.

As someone who has been in management for many years, a five figure payoff is fairly cheap to make someone go away.
It also has nothing to do with whether their claim was valid.
It has to do with how much it would cost you to defend against their claim.

I spoke to a woman, today, who was involved in a similar situation. She said she settled because it would be dragged out and she would be harassed throughout the whole ordeal. Even though she settled, the guy got away with it.
So, no, it is not always about the claim not being valid.
I also had a valid case and I knew that none of the employees would risk their jobs, as witnesses, even though they knew the guy was a jerk and in the wrong. So, when I got my commission owed to me, I dropped the lawsuit. I got what I wanted and he ended up bankrupting the company anyway.

If these accusations are not true, I want him fully vindicated.
But, remember this, the confidentiality agreement bars any participant (the two women or Cain) from discussing the case publicly. Once Herman breached it, it is now fair game for ALL involved. It may take them a couple of days, because if they are smart, they will hire attorneys to walk them through the interviews. It should get very interesting!! We shall see.
I'm not fully convinced because of the hedging by his camp and their reactions when the story hit. Politico gave them 10 days to respond. For them to act so discombobulated when asked, is very strange.
If it's a set up, I hope Cain wins and makes the media look like fools. If he's lying, I hope he gets the lynching he foretold of back in May.
