They get over used and familiar so we have to keep a steady influx of new songs to replace the tired worn out ones. Whew, it takes a lot of work and effort to keep the Holy Ghost moving. You know you can't have moves of the Spirit without a steady flow of new music and hundreds of hours of practice by the "worship team." And if you're a small church, well you're handicapped right away because you can't yet afford an earth shaking sound system with computer projected lyrics. Welcome to the show.

That is why I prefer loud prayer rooms before service, because then the Spirit will move without all of the guitar distortions, irrelevant instrumentation, light swinging, and rocky music. When I go to church I want to get with God, not attend a rock concert.

Yeah... i have heard those one liners too... "rather have wild fire than no fire at all"

Not sure what my thoughts are... but I would not choose the wild fire and the fanatic route.

Hey, hey, I didn't say not.... the old farmer said it!

I would say that the type of song you are speaking of is more common in churches holding onto what was "modern worship" 10-20 years ago.

What is considered modern worship today has left most of that far behind.

Re: Loudness In Churches.

Some folks are drier than last year's corn shucks and love dead church. It requires nothing out of them. But you let them go to a sporting event they get enthused about what they love. Just saying........................

I hope you're being sarcastic with the statement bolded above. I'll let you respond before commenting further...

Yea but I can go to any church I want any sunday I want. I only get so many opportunities to go to a Tennessee Titans game. Perhaps its the churches fault for making itself too commonplace

Not for me. I'm not a die-hard sports fan. So, I suppose for those who are, perhaps that's where the need to keep it on the radar comes in...

Even still, the comparison of church atmosphere and sporting event is the same as beating a dead horse...

Nevertheless, some "have arrived" and are walking the plateau of perfection, while others are waiting to arrive, still walking uphill...

I understand folks enjoy what they love. I never have been to Titans game but I never miss a church service.

It was at church:
I heard about Jesus and the Cross
I repented of my sins
I was baptized in that wonderful precious Name and my sins were remitted
I recieved the glorious gift of the Holy Ghost
I have been healed body-soul-spirit over and over again
I have been blessed-helped-encouraged-corrected.
Just a few things that has never happened to anyone at a Titans game.
