Generally when anything about Apostolic heritage is mentioned it is with either distain or to poke fun. Apostolic worship & lifestyle are seen as goofy or strange. Shall I go on?
Again I have friends who post here so I come from time to time. But it is NOT Apostolic.

I agree with most of this.

We surely must be apostolic. We're starting threads accusing one another of not being apostolic. What bigger sign of being apostolic is there than railing on one another on our lack of apostolicness?

Apostolic by your definition, correct me if I'm wrong: MUST be baptized in Jesus name, MUST practice holiness standards (as defined by the UPCI, not the Bible) in appearance, MUST abide by a tyranical list of don'ts...etc. The Apostolic worship & lifestyle? If it's not a sudden, unexpected shout, weep, or vigorous shaking while singing or praising, well then...

Yeah, I agree that the most "frequent posters" don't attend Apostolic churches...by your definition. Although calling out anyone isn't exactly wise, I'd be curious to know who you are referring to when speaking of frequent posters...

But, no need to expound on the who since D4T said it very well just above this...

Re: Is AFF Really Apostolic? Probably Not!

Some of us would still be in an Apostolic church if there weren't cliches` and some highly favored above another.

True Apostolics would not be so cruel to other members of the church system simply because of disagreement over the standards.

I love my husband's beard. Without it, he looks like baby face Nelson. The other men would just greet him while in service, but forget about fellowship outside of church services.

So one day he did an experiment, he shaved his beard off. WOW! One by one they came up and told him that "he cleaned up nice".
Same man, did not change anything but put some little tiny hairs in the bathroom sink.

Re: Is AFF Really Apostolic? Probably Not!

I believe the board itself is founded on Apostolic principles according to the Welcome Mat. I believe their are Apostolic members who post here.

I do not believe that the over all culture of the board is Apostolic. I do believe, after much reading through the archives, that it used to be.

Re: Is AFF Really Apostolic? Probably Not!

Hubby went to visit one of his own Apostolic Churches one Sunday morning. The visiting preacher, a well-known singer was preaching that "We got to get the lost sheep back into the fold". Perfect opportunity! Hubby went up to him after church and told him in a very humble way that if he wants to bring the lost sheep back into the church, he could tell him just how to do it. This Preacher did not give him the time of day.

Sorry. Actions speak louder than words.
