Nope. I'm not worried about that at all. Now if I was in Canada or Europe I might be... but not here in the U.S.

Danger of losing your job? Yes.

Danger of being ostricized among friends, family and colleagues? Yes.

Danger of being discriminated against if you say it? Yes.

Going to prison for it? Nope.

These are very serious consequences though, and they are more common now than in the past. Who knows how this will progress given the current tide in political and academic circles.

Jesus said that as it was in the days of Sodom so it would be when He returned. I really do not think that it is as bad as that yet. However, it is still safe to be running late at night without having to worry if the men of the city are going to try to have a group party with you as the pinata so to speak.

That's a serious issue for me. But it also generates a question in my mind.

You see... we stand against allowing them to have certain liberties that they wish to have. And we sink all kinds of money and political energy into trying to use laws to STOP them. Meanwhile, they continue to fight for the "freedom" they want, painting us as dangerous and hateful people, that perception generating a desire to address "hate speech" etc.

I don't see us keeping them at bay for another generation politically. What if we just let them have their freedoms and put all our money and energy into securing our freedom of speech and freedom of conscience in relation to these matters?

Frankly, we're ignoring our rights in our efforts to try to control them. So as they gain political victories... our rights are weakened more and more.

Instead of spending all our energies being "against them"... why not focus on what we are "for"... our rights to free speech and conscience?

For example... we say, "Go ahead and marry." Then we lobby for legislators to write laws protecting our freedom of speech and individual churches' freedom of conscience to deny performing such unions. Instead of trying to control them.... fight for OUR rights.

I just don't get it. The gay lobby will win many victories because the courts rarely rule against personal liberties that do not harm another's life, liberty, or property. As we waste our time and money trying to control and stop them... they are taking the advantage by pushing for hate speech laws. They will win. And when they do, we will be gagged and silenced, forced into complying with their demands. It's a political TRAP. If we backed off of them and fought for OUR rights... we'd be much better off I think. Because they will win on civil liberties issues.

This is well articulated and exactly how I feel. There will always be this backlash because of
misdirected efforts.

So Justice is defined as "do unto others as they did unto you, your ancestors, or people like you".

T2W - this has to be one of the worst arguments I have ever heard. By using this argument, I should be able to go back to Georgia and kick off the people that are on the property that the U.S. government stole from my family.
Would that be justice?
Also, any black person whose ancestors were slaves should be able to make you, (assuming you are white), their slave.
That would be justice too, in your world.
Ridiculous
