The truly sad thing is that you can find that most 'Christians' through America's history have not been truly Christian. I suppose that same claim is actually to be applied to the whole history of Christianity. All one needs is to look at a pictoral history to see that while there were periods of Christianity's influencing the country to great moral good, there are as many or more where the evidence is sadly lacking.

This is especially true if one looks at it from a rural/urban perspective. The opportunities toward a sinful lifestyle were always more prevalent in an urban setting, for many obvious reason. This is why with the death of rural America, we are seeing a rise in the public sins being blatantly publicized.

It's not the job of the church to polish the brass on a sinking ship. Our job is to tell all that it is sinking, and save as many as we can reach.
