Esther,
I had many of these same questions myself for several years. Had heard that perhaps the 12 tribes of Israel were scattered throughout Europe, and even into America. Perhaps even why America is so blessed today?
A scripture opened my eyes recently to understand that it matters not whether I am a Jew or a Gentile by bloodline. Read
Romans 11. Then go back and read verse 20-21:
Romans 11:20-21 "Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not high minded, but fear:
For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee."
Picture in your mind this .... a tree, with this tree being Christ. The branches of the tree were natural, bloodline-deserving Israelites. Yet, in the scripture above, it says "Because of unbelief they were broken off". So these natural branches (Israel, the 12 tribes etc.) were broken off because of UNBELIEF. And why are we grafted in? Because of our faith.
The Israelites and the Gentiles are allowed to remain part of the tree, according to FAITH IN JESUS... without that faith, bloodline does not matter.
Romans 11:21 "For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed, lest he also spare not thee."
Our concern should not necessarily be where those 12 tribes are residing today, and there is a great possibility they are mixed in all our bloodlines - how do we know? But in God's eyes, our bloodline matters not, only our FAITH IN JESUS and the work on the cross.
That gave me true hope after coming to see this. Hope this helps
