You are mistaken. South district picked up many more minorites. Lufkin still looks pretty pale but most of the Spanish speaking churches have their own camp, it is just a few miles up the road from me although I'm not sure it's UPCI.... but maybe??

Re: Just a thought.
I went to the South Texas UPC Ladies Conference every year for many years, until we moved. San Marcos is a beautiful city, and the hotel they are having it at is brand new, and very nice. I saw the listing for the speakers this year, and they included Mickey Mangun, I think...

Then Sherri could talk and encourage then.
Over thirty years ago, our region had Sis Nona Freeman speak at the only ladies seminar this district ever had. It was wonderful to hear about her experiences with the mission work in Africa.
I would travel to hear Sis Alvear talk about her experiences in Brazil.
Plus, the host had several area minister's wives speak on various topics.

Re: Just a thought.
Nona Freeman and her husband were missionaries in Africa for well over 40 years. She was quite an inspiration to many women. I admire all missionaries, but women missionaries hold a special place in my heart because they live like the women they are ministering to in the third world countries, I am told. It's a hard, but rewarding life all have said.

Re: Just a thought.
I read her books... such an interesting and fulfilled life for the Lord.
I loved reading all the stories of women church planters here and in other parts of the world. Oma's story was really inspirational. Great women.
And shouldn't preaching really just BE speaking in an edifying, uplifting way? I'm sure Sherri manages that daily

Congratulations on your upcoming child. I will be an uncle at roughly that same time period.
No I am not married. I do not even have a church within 300 miles with single ladies who are old enough for me to consider. The closest that I could come at the moment would require marrying outside the church, and I will not be doing that.

If I had to guess, that would be the one that she is speaking of.
I have also been inspired by those writers who saw many of the early days of the Pentecostal movement. They made me want to see the power of God in the way that they did.
