What is the evidence that you're referring to?
I've heard some offer the idea of an "oscillating universe" (Big Bang-Leads-to-Big Crunch-which-leads-to-another-Big Bang, and so on) as a way of reconciling modern cosmology with the Vedic scriptures, but Hoyle and Wickramasinghe both rejected the idea. For them, it was the "Steady State" all the way. Before he died, Sir Fred did offer an incomplete cosmology where the universe was ever expanding and was infinitely large - though this came up short when
Olber's Paradox is applied.
