Bishop A. M. Abbey
Bishop Allan M. Abbey loves God first, his family second, then the Church of the Living God. He was baptized in the lovely name of Jesus in 1952 and received the baptism of the Holy Ghost on Easter Sunday, 1954. His studies vary from theology and in-depth Bible study, to architecture and design. He was an award winning gymnast in high school, and continues to enjoy many outdoor sports, such as
water and snow skiing, racing boats, mountain climbing, fishing, and camping.
Rev. Abbey came to Sacramento when he was 28 years old. He had been on the evangelistic field, accompanied by his wife and young son, Jon, for three and one-half years, as well as holding a position of assistant pastor for six years. He began ministering at what is now called Calvary Evangelism Center with a tiny congregation. Each year, God added to the Church and Calvary has grown to be a dynamic, multicultural family, worshipping the Father in Spirit and in Truth.
Bishop Abbey’s life has been an exciting adventure from his youth. He enjoys taking the road less traveled and facing the challenges of climbing the steep mountains, spiritual and physical. He dearly values his wife, Carol, whom he married in 1965, and his three children, Jon, Jennifer, and Joel, as well as his eight grandchildren. Sr. Pastor Abbey has stated, “I am adventurous in lots of things, not forsaking the tried and true foundation of the gospel of Jesus Christ.”
